Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
What we collect
- Your email address, when you create an account.
- Your password — stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash, never in plain text.
- A security question and answer you set, used solely to verify you when resetting your password — the answer is stored hashed, the same way your password is.
- Any excuse text, tags, and votes you submit.
- Standard technical logs (like IP address and browser type) generated by normal web hosting.
We do not collect your phone number, and we never use OTP or SMS verification.
Why we collect it
To create and secure your account, let you reset your password without email or SMS, attribute content you submit, prevent duplicate voting, and keep the site running reliably.
How we use cookies
We set one essential cookie to keep you logged in. It is not used for advertising or tracking. If that changes in future — for example, if we add site analytics or advertising — we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
Sharing your data
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the infrastructure providers that host our database and application (for example, our cloud hosting and database provider), and only to the extent needed to run the site, or where required by Indian law.
How long we keep it
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time — see "Your rights" below.
Your rights
In line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw your consent, and request erasure of your account and personal data. To exercise any of these, write to contact@jdsparkllp.com. Note that excuse text you've submitted may remain visible in anonymised form after account deletion, since it may already be in use by other visitors as reference content.
Children's privacy
Bahaane accounts are intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time and will post the revised version here.
